Maintained by the Chatham Historical Society, the Atwood House Museum is the only house in the area preserved in its original form. Built by a prominent sea captain in 1752, it is a stunning example of 18th-century design, featuring an old-fashioned sinkroom, a buttery, a brick oven, and other marvelous architectural throwbacks. It lies in the heart of town, next to Mill Pond.
